About the role:

 

The Procurement team is currently seeking a Procurement Officer to join them on a Monday to Friday roster based at our West Perth Office. Reporting to the Supervisor Procurement, you will be responsible to ensure a high level of procurement support to the business by effectively sourcing and procuring goods and services and administration of associated contracts and agreements, in accordance with Company policies, procedures, standards and internal customer requirements. Also the timely and effective delivery and management of procurement outcomes and processes; to ensure that Atlas’ procurement arrangements deliver value for money; protect Atlas’ interests and enable Atlas to meet its business objectives.

 

Duties:

 

  • Responsible for managing all day to day procurement of goods and services via ERP system, under the respective contracts where applicable.      
  • Issue request for quotations for procurement of goods and services and ensure that appropriate recommendations are made to deliver value for money whilst complying with Contracts & Procurement policy and procedures.
  • Place Purchase Orders for goods and services and ensure on time delivery in accordance with agreed specification or scope of works.
  • Arrange freight where required for goods to the Pilbara region including hotshots and airfreight
  • Resolve and close out in a timely manner mismatches between invoice and purchase orders.
  • Investigate and resolve delivery, pricing and/or quality issues with vendors and internal customers as they arise.
  • Catalogue material items and link to contracts in the ERP system to maximise cost savings and procurement efficiencies. Maintain the catalogue to ensure that pricing, part numbers and key details are correct.
  • Administer and provide guidance in the use of the ERP system as it relates to the procure-to-pay modules, identifying ways to continuously improve the ERP system and processes wherever possible. Assist in the mapping and documentation of those processes.
  • Manage the timely creation and amendment of all supplier master data records in the ERP system and ensure an up to date audit trail is kept for all vendors engaged by the Company.
  • Actively monitor procurement and vendor performance to ensure expectations are met and continuously improved upon.
  • Ensure the explosives supply is actively managed throughout the business, under the respective contract.
  • Ensure procurement documentation and vendor performance complies with Company policies and core values with respect to safety, environment, community relations and social licence to operate.
  • Ensure compliance to the Atlas Contracts & Procurement Management System (CPMS).
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to arrange annual financial year purchase orders.
  • Monitor and respond to cold call vendors in a timely manner.
  • Actively participate in Procurement improvement projects.
  • Provide assistance to the procurement team with various ad-hoc tasks and responsibilities as needed.

 

Skills and Experience:

 

  • 3-5 years of experience in procurement and expediting, with knowledge in areas such as negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and understanding procurement processes and best practices.
  • An understanding of the importance of sourcing and cost savings in procurement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for evaluating suppliers, analysing market trends, and making data-driven decisions.
  • Effective negotiation skills to secure favourable terms and conditions with suppliers and ensure cost-effective procurement.
  • Precision and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools, as well as familiarity with ERP systems.

Preferred skills (not mandatory):

  • Experience in the mining industry.
  • Finance and receipting experience.
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA integration projects.
