About the role
Reporting to the General Manager – Technology & Information Management the primary purpose of the Superintendent IT Infrastructure Operations role is to lead a team of technical experts and outsourced services responsible for designing, delivering, and improving IT infrastructure and communications environments, services, and processes to support the strategic and operational objectives of Atlas Iron. This ranges from servers, storage, networks, digital radio, site services, data centres and cloud infrastructure across all Atlas Iron sites.
Main responsibilities of the role include:
- Lead a team of high performing specialists to ensure effective and efficient day-to-day infrastructure operation.
- Oversee the management of network, cloud, data storage, back-ups, servers and support infrastructure. This includes monitoring, maintaining and administering to ensure availability of data, the effectiveness of back-ups and the ability to restore as required.
- Manage the relationship with service suppliers, partners and the Security Operations Centre to ensure service level agreement targets are established, managed and consistently improved.
- Effectively manage suppliers in line with the supplier management framework. Ensure contract requirements are met and the supplier relationships are healthy.
- Acts as single point of contact for IT infrastructure operations across all sites to ensure site activities are delivered successfully, for escalations, prioritisation and future business planning.
- Ensure IT infrastructure operations are aligned with Atlas Iron technology roadmap, standards and architecture blueprints.
- Ensuring service levels across all IT Infrastructure Services and suppliers.
- Manage compliance of software and hardware licensing and services, reviewing licensing and distribution and developing strategies for appropriate reporting to each Business unit on licensing costs for Atlas Iron, with a view to bringing down the cost of licensing.
- Manage and optimises third-party delivery of Village Entertainment Systems (VES) to camps of internet, Wi-Fi, movies and TV channels.
- Oversee the management of digital radio, bore telemetry and remote satellite communications, including designing, monitoring, maintaining and administering various networks and systems to meet site needs.
- Establish and maintains strong working relationships between business stakeholders at all levels, including across the Hancock Prospecting portfolio.
- Work with the technology project teams to ensure solutions implemented are sustainable and have had an effective operational handover.
About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar senior role in IT Infrastructure Operations in the resource sector would be highly desirable.
- Tertiary qualifications relevant to Information Technology or IT Industry recognised certification is preferred.
- Exemplary leadership qualities and attributes.
- Extensive stakeholder management, conflict management and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrable experience in:
- Service orientated industries.
- IT governance and service level management, either with COBIT 5 or ITIL v4.
- Supplier and contract management.
- Hardware asset lifecycles.
- Demonstrated skills and knowledge in the supervision of Cloud, Networks (LAN/WAN), servers and Data and document management experience within a medium-sized commercial company.
- Leadership capability, being proficient in leadership essential skills as well as ability to lead through times of pressure and change.
• Working understanding of agile and waterfall processes.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to improve process and efficiency through workflow automation.
• Track record of successfully delivering on team and personal KPI’s.
